Statement sent from AT&T Williams Formula 1:

Please find below a quote from Patrick Head (Director of Engineering):

“Dean started by conducting some aero test work on the car which required fixed speed running on the straight, so a number of slow laps,” Patrick explained. “He was able to begin some fast laps at midday, and progressively brought his times down, exploring the capabilities of the car, engine and tyres.

“It was clear to me that his times progressed on each run, even on older tyres, my impression being that the lap times would have continued to reduce with further running.

“Dean was calm and unfazed by the step up in speeds and performance over an F2 car, and after the day his comments to the engineers fitted well with those of our race drivers. I hope Dean gets the opportunity to progress to GP2, as I think he has strong talent and is clearly a great competitor. We shall be watching closely.”
